The legendary midyear introduction of the even modern Cobra jet
engine was an excellent addition to the list of Ford engines. This engine as
its name showing was specially built for the racing cars of Ford. It was the
answer to the competitor pressure at that time when Chevrolet introduced its
Mopar engines in 440 and 426 Hemi versions. It was the same time when Pontiac
was offered with 421 and 428 v8 engines but they were not up to the mark to
compete in the market. Considering going deeper in Ford? Click Londonengines.co.uk.
Ford decided to introduce a new mass production engine for its
vehicles especially for the muscle cars. The cobra jet Ford engines again proved itself a powerful and
successful engine of the era and it was designed to crank more than 300
horsepower and it generated 335hp. The engine was even more capable of a slight
change in its configuration and Ford did that in the coming years by tweaking
the engine to produce more than 400 horsepower. The cobra jet generated up to
450 hp in several models. This amount of power was more than enough for winning
the title of Stock Car Championship which involved several illegal road races.
